Organisation of the CVA

  • The CVA is a non profit association, founded in 1998 and registered in France. Its legal seat is hosted by Arianespace in Evry, near Paris, and its operating office is currently hosted by the European Space Agency in Paris.

  • The Council of Mayors:
    Is composed by voting members: city councils and industrial members.
    Decides on programmes and budget, and accepts new members.
    The Presidency of the Council is a rotating function, taken in principle each year by a different Mayor.
    Meets twice a year.

  • The Bureau: implements the decisions taken by the Council of Mayors and prepares proposals for new programmes.

  • The General Delegation, conducts the everyday management of activities and programmes, and implements the decisions taken by the Bureau.

  • The Planning Advisory Committee (COP):
    Gathers members and non-member experts, according to the subjets to be discussed;
    Analyses the results of activities and reflects on future activities for the association;
    Makes recommendations to the Bureau and the Council of Mayors.

  • The by-laws were modified in October of 2009 to open membership to cities and industries in ESA Member States hosting European space transportation related activities in general. The CVA is thus no longer limited only to the Ariane programme.
